View Full Version : this is what happens if a 16-yeal old makes an animation
Hi guys,
Like it says in the title, I'm 16-years old and this is my third attempt in making an animated short. I hope you guys like, and it would be really nice if you could give me some tips. I made this short in Maya 7

I commend you for your hard work and determination, keep at it and you will get better. My advice would be to get the Animators Survival Kit by Richard Williams and study it. Try animating a bouncing ball that has convincing wieght and timing and work your way up. I think right now you are trying to go right to the top, but any animator will tell you that it all starts with the fundamentals, you get those down and you can do anything. Keep working hard and you will get where you want to be. Have patience, it's all in the pre production.

I definately agree with the above post that once you learn the basics of weight, squash & stretch, etc. you'll definately be on your way in the right direction. Asides from having that knowledge to work from though, this is a neat little piece with a story and well placed foley work. The camera shots seem well done and artistic as well. Really, a very nice start for you. Who knows, maybe down the road you'll end up redoing this short once you've learnt a little bit more on animation and be able to see how far you've come!
Definately keep at it :)
