this is an older shot i´ve done a year ago. though it´s finished i don´t really like it.
I need C&C what i can improve to make it more realistic/believable.

here´s an image of from the clip:

i´m a bit unsure in what direction you want this to go, because the actual station has more of a cartoony look to it (which i personally REALLY like) but the surrounding environment is photo-real.

were you aiming for cartoony or real ?

stimpy: for this time i´m heading for real look. any ideas why it looks cartoony ? how can i change it ?

tough one..

though the whole scene takes place on a cloudy day, a stronger shadow from the sun would maybe help a little bit, right now the lighting is a bit too diffuse for my liking.

and i think since you have those very strong thin grey lines on blueish, nearly white, you get a very sketch like look. reminds me of concept art or of old captain future episodes. which is a look i really dig btw but which you were not aiming for (unfortunately ;) )

i guess the texturing could use a little work, maybe also some colors. maybe a strong red somewhere on the base like on the shuttles or sumthin along that line

Some variation in the water color (purple) or the sky makes it more "fantasy".
I love the clouds!
You could use a fog to desaturate the far background.
Can you avoid the excess in cyan on the cloud at the right side?
Great job!

Dam boy! I like it just like it is, why trying to get the realistic look if that look better than the real deal.
But if it is the realistic look you are after you’ll have to go for the more dirty chaotic look.
Less “baby”-blue in the ocean and the reflections doesn’t work (you have none).
The shadows are to light, it’s too perfect to be real.
Try working on these tree aspects and lets see what happens.

But I like it just the way it is.

stimpy:thnx.. i´ll play a little bit with the textures maybe with the shadows..

nobody complaining about the look of the ships ? because for me they are the worst in the whole shot.

i tried to pause the movie a couple of times to take a look at the ships but couldnt get any good frames. i think the way they are flying you dont really notice them too well
