(http://assets.cgsociety.org/nvart/45167_1212090984/1024bound)Here is a study in two contradictions. The concepts of emancipation or freedom and bondage or captivity. Lying at two opposite poles of the thought spectrum, their extreme meanings and adverse connotations only, ironically bind them together.
EMANCIPATION ... IS BLISS. uses this very opposing nature of these two concepts defined in this verse to represent some modern day concepts through this composition. The modern age and our dependence on a mechanical life full of machines and gadgets equals bondage represented by machine parts, and The organic shapes glowing with bright light signifying our return towards nature ‘n simplicity, and finally emancipation.
This artwork also uses the Phi spiral (from the Divine Proportion) and the 24 steps of seduction as described by Robert Greene in his book “the Art of Seduction” signifying emancipation from Virginal Bondage.
|| The moment the yogi attains the realisation of the brahmn ( the invisible absolute), illuminated like a bright lamp with the spirit of self realisation, he emancipates himself from all bondages, having known that unborn, unattatched and all encompassing divine entity. ||
.Shwetashwatara Upanishad ( chapter 2 : VERSE 15 )
Also included are the detail shots in actual resolution and Some initial Sketches which began the entire thought process on the concept.
YOu can notice the Use of Devnagri Script and many Sanskrit Characters in the Artwork to write Words actually in English which , I think , is the true FUSION of two languages and Cultures. Absolutely going with the Theme and concept of this CG Art Challenge.
Softwares Used :: Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Cinema 4D for the 3D Elements.
