I try to do a lens shader and i don't now how to make a lens optical scaling effect .
I know it may be very simple to do but i don't know where i do wrong.
I've created a cylinder and scale it to get a lens shape and then i apply a phong shader with a sampler info on transparency
rasing a little bit the cosine power .
Please help! Thanks!

Don't forget to turn on the raytracing and change the value of the refractiv index (in the shader) to something like 1.35.
I'm afraid that the basic phong will stay looking like plastic; you'll get a better result with a phongE. (or a blinn)

What i was trying to achieve is that lens deformation effect.
Can you be more specific?

Can you see something thru the cylinder?
Is the backroung visible in refraction?
Is the cylindre still round enough after the scale?
Can you post a picture of your WIP?
Between the sampler info and the transparancy do you have a driven key or a ramp to insure that values are hold between 0 and 1?
