Why don't you just duplicate your object along -x and make it an instance? no need to make a script unless it's just a macro with the duplicate settings.

i figred that but what i waant is something that is automatically joined and instatiated in one move. ahh, never mind. I could write a simple script on that. I don't know. There was a script that was like virtual mirror in mirai but for maya but i cant find it. If you just happen to see it let me know.

you could always try the Connect Poly Shape script on Highend3d.com. That does virtual mirroring and smoothing. You can turn the smoothing on or off if its not what you want.

So I have not really seen an answer for this thread yet...
In Maya 5, is there any way to do a SYMMETRY (max) or VIRTUAL MIRROR (mirai)? To be specific, this is a way to mirror instanced geometry with an auto-weld at the seam so that the center points always remain locked at the midpoint. The Max one is amazing and I would be surprised if nobody has made one for Maya 5.
If so, please let me know the link or technique :)
Also, I am on OSX...so Connect Poly Shape does not seem to work for me. :(
thanks.
