Ok..so I have ONE last question for everyone before I pick which 3D app to get for my freelancing biz. Here it is:

To what degree does it matter that you're using Cinema4D when going after 'remote" or "long distance" freelance gigs. BY remote I mean jobs that have been advertised at some forum or website (e.g. CgTalk, Gamasutra, etc.) and that are conducted entirely long distance through postal mail, email, and phone.

It seems that many of the ones I have seen often mention specific
apps and rarely mention Cinema 4D. And if this IS the case, to what extent might it be changing, given C4Ds rise in popularity?

Thanks in advance. I promise this is absolutley my last question until the next one. :)

I guess that would depend on what the client wants from you, if they want a finished piece for something like a CD cover or box art then it wouldn't matter what application you use because they get the end result and thats it job done, I did a bit of freelance work a while ago for a board game company, they couldn't give a crap what software I was using they just wanted the renders :), things would start to get a little complicated if they wanted fully rigged and textured models for some sort of animation project). It depends on what kind of jobs you want to get

Yeah as squid said it all depends on what kind of project, if they are looking for someone to do things from start to finish, then no problem, if its for modeling it shoudn't be an issue either as long as you know what app they will be using, I mean if they need something in IGES, well then your screwed. but if its XSI or maya or max, then you can safely export/import from cinema to those apps for models.

Animation would be probably the most difficult area.
