Title: The Dark Avenger
Name: Lisa Lee
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop
My second completed character painting using Photoshop. This one started out with a rough watercolor wash on a 14x17 Bristol board and then scanned in with digital camera set at the highest resolution, and painted over with modified Hard Rounds and other textured brushes. The purpose here was to capture the realism of the posture and anatomy, two things I've been struggling with since making the transition from anime-style to more Westernized look. This character was created long ago back in my early college days as a protagonist for a comic book I have yet to start on; he's been modeled after a classic Byronic hero archetype which has been one of my favorite subjects in school. I tend to have a thing for dark flawed hero, which seems more reasonable than your typical standard macho hero. I had some help in completing this piece and I don't think this would've turned out as well without them, so I say thanks to those who helped me, I still appreciate comments and critiques as I'm sure there's always something that can be improved, and will help me become better artist. Enjoy!
