mine did get quite saturated ^^
wasn't on purpose - the monitor i had my ref on seems to have quite some strong greens ;)

Vyse-soa: i really like your coast image! :) you just might want to watch the perspective - the waterlevel on the right half of the image almost seems to go as high or even higher than the horizon itself :) - appart from that it looks damn sweet :)

thanks for the refs Ted :)

Got to find some kind of systematical approach to get things done faster. This one, as simple as it looks, took me more than one hour.

Grapes from a week or two back, though somewhat deformed.

I accidentally merged my white sketch over the color layer, and my attempt to clean it up afterwards clearly didn't end well.

Michal ,
Here is my take on your Plane image. I used Gimp for the first time here and was learning how to use gimp along the way so I wasn't concerned about the time. How do you paint straight lines using a Pen/tablet. Couldn't figure that one out. I took probably 1.5hrs to complete .

Well, depends what do you mean - drawing straight lines freehand or using some tool for this? In the first case you need a bigger tablet - like A4 or simillar - and don't use your wrist to make the straight and long movement. Anyway it's much harder to do in using tablet that on a paper (like in PS you can't rotate your canvas arbitrarily). In case you are asking for a tool for straight lines, I can only help with PS - use Shift + LeftMouse (or pet tab) to make a line between you previous leftmouse click and this one. If you hold Shift and draw you will be restrained to X or Y axis only. Both are very usefull.

This one took me something around 1 hour.

Hey Michal,

Thanks for the answer. I was talking about a "tool" to draw straight lines in gimp, I can draw straight lines using the mouse but when I try using my pen it doesn't seem to work for whatever reason.
Cool sketch of the Mobile artillery unit. I checked out your sketch thread , cool stuff and you are making great progress . By the way you mentioned you were getting ready for the "IDW" in your "My Sketchbook" thread. Is this a Painting contest ?

Michal,
Thanks for the link to the IDW contest and I will check this out. As for Gimp and painting straight lines with the pen , I am trying to find an alternative 2d paint program to what I currently have(corel photopaint 12) so I am checking out demos and free programs right now.
