Hi all, I'm trying to set up an arm rig with ikfk abilities, but for some reason i can't get it to work. I'm using orient constraints for the FK controls, after setting up the basic ik. However, although ORI constraining the shoulder works, when i do the same for the elbow, things start to go wrong. When i test to see if the connections have worked (ie, testing the ik blend on the ikhandle) when i go into FK mode, the wrist snaps up to a completely different angle (though the controls themselve actually work). This baffles me. I have re-done this so many times, taking care with freezing transformations, zeroing out rotations on joints, setting prefered angle and keeping my null heirarchy clean.
What could I be missing here?

Also i am using Maya 8.5 :D

Something else that baffles me - i thought maybe the problem was that my elbow was not in line with shoulder and wrist joints, however when i re-did the arm with all the joints in a straight line, i got a different problem - when using the ik, the wrist rotates (yet the rotations don't show up in the channel box?!) So i scrapped that idea ><
Does anyone know why the angle of my arm in FK mode is different to that in IK mode??

what ap are you using? If you're using Max...here's a great tut on the IK/FK setup by Paul Neale.
