View Full Version : scaling and cropping
Hello. i have been rendering in HD and want to make some of the videos smaller to put on the web. also i want to add sound.
i have rendered out to pictures. so whats the best way to make them into a video with sounds etc? i have premiere and after effects. i normally just use flash as it seems to be alot easier than both of these other products. especially for cutting out images as i can see them there as key frames.
also once i have my finished video with sound. what program do i use to do the scaling and cropping? i am use to using photoshop. so i thought it would just be like that on a bigger scale. but i cant see any options or tools to crop into a section of video and save that out. or on scaling!
tutorials and suggestions please?

To Scale the layer, select the layer then hit the "S" key. Adjust the scale by dragging the number of type in the amount you want. Click the Stopwatch to set a keyframe if you plan on animating the scale over time. Move down the timeline and change the scale value, another keyframe will appear.
To Crop a video layer, mask off the section you want to keep. Try using the Rectangular mask Tool. If you plan on scaling that layer too, scale it first as when you scale it will also scale the mask.
You can also crop in the Render Que, double click the Compression Code next to "Output Module" and you see a crop box.
If you mean you want to scale the whole video as a whole, you can do the same as above but click the Stretch Box and make it anysize for output you want.
I don't use Flash much and it's interface seems way-awkward (compared to AE) for animation... basically I think it's what you get used to, they're both great programs.
Here's a good place for AE basics:

when i import my images into AE and drag them onto the time line. they come up at 1/6th of a second. as appose to just being one frame
i have rendered out at 25fps but AE wants my frames to go for 6milisecconds.
anybody else had this? how do i change it?

Set the footage interpretation correctly. AE defaults to 30fps for image sequences. This can be changed in the prefs.

oh its premiere that puts each frame in as 1/6th of a seccond.
my problem with after effects is i don't know how to get the frames on the time line.
if i drag them onto it. AE puts them all on different layers.
is there any tutorials out there for people who render out lots of pictures using a 3d program
and then want to make a video?
thats all i want to do. i am surely not the only person who uses a 3d program so what do people normally use?????????
:'(
do people make there images into an uncompressed video then edit it and add sound?
