figured as much you can either try extruding thw whole thing or....
you can use make thicker. I don't have the exact link to it but it should be in the plugins thread in the subforums.

If you want to make your panels thicker theres two ways:
1) copy the points around the edge and then move them down and bridge
2) download the makethicker plugin (can't remember where to get it from sorry:thumbsdow )

Ok I was playing with the "bridge" function and I don't get the basic difference between bridge and creat polygon? One will make a poly out of tris and the other will make a regular poly?

Bridge has a few extra functions (like making tunnels, collapsing rows, etc.), but the main difference is that the Bridge tool is a faster way of building polygons in most cases.
bridge takes two clicks to make a quad. create poly takes four.
