alienesque 05-19-2003, 05:55 PM hi..how do you apply a material to just a certain amount of faces of an object..
cheers for any help..ive looked everywhere but dont seem to able to find it explained.:)

hi
select the polys u want to apply the material to, and create a selection (from "Selection" menu). then, name your selection.
next step, drop your material on the object, and in the attributes manager for this material, enter the name you gave to your selection (atm i dont remember the name of the field where u have to enter selection's name (its on the second tab i think), but u'll find out easily)
thats it :)
an easy way to get the name of the selection you are looking for is just to hover your mouse over the selection tag. the little status bar will tell you what the selections name is.

thanks a lots guys..it worked a treat..the problem was that i had an object with two selection sets but didnt name them as i made them...so it seemed that the first selection set was being dominated by the second..maybe?:)
