View Full Version : Fumefx glitch?

I posted a similar question but I think I put it in the wrong forum so I appologize if this seems repetitive. Here goes...

I'm relatively new to Fumefx but I find it to be a great plugin. My question is, when I place a source inside of an object with a curved surface like a sphere for instance, smoke particles will slightly breach the surface and form a smoke "halo" around the object. Objects with straight sides like boxes seem to contain the smoke much better but it still shows up slightly on the outer surface if there is enough of it. Fire on the other hand, seems to be completely contained within objects.

Is this a glitch in fumefx?
Or am I doing something wrong?

I'm afraid you'll need a higher res sim. And you should avoid geometry that has no thickness. Shell it ;)

Ah thanks for the advice Glacierise!
I think I get it now. The voxel size is so large that half the voxel is inside the sphere and the other half is outside. Since fumefx can't calculate fractions of voxels, the smoke appears to be on the outside of the object. I increased the voxel size dramatically to test this out. Do I have this right?
