Yes, building a website seems to be a hard job. ;-)

Yes, the website part was really becoming a burden so I stripped out the fancy stuff and went simple. It's closer than it was two weeks ago... :-)

Darf, EVERYTHING is better than those 404 Not Found Errors. Or do you call THAT simple? Well, it really is ;-)

Heh - yeah, I had little look into the coding of that site when you said you were having trouble - got past the first few nested frames before I decided to leave it well alone!

Credit card is cocked and ready... :wavey:

DOH!!! Sorry guys, the final site ( as simple as it is ) goes up tonight. It is done, just creating PDFs and archives. BTW: TAG ghoster is freeware ( it does requires JENNA demo has to be installed at minimum for it to work ). Back to work! :-)

Hey--wouldnt it be funny if someone actually designed thier site to look like an "Error 404 site not found" page?

Maybe this is the new look for cidetank?
If so, brilliant.

Darf, how much is JENNAv2? And how much is the update from v1? Unfortunately I have to ask here, because there's no info on your website. The FAQs don't give me all the answers.

Howdy all,

I have to wait until around 10:00am central US time to open the store ( kind of a ribbon cut, press the button thing with some friends ). The site has been updated again ( I finished off the html for now ). Please feel free to email me any questions you want answered ( it will help me fill up the FAQ!!! ).

Pricing:

Let me first explain what progressive means. The progressive purchase means that there are three plugins that are ready for download ( the tag ghoster is free and is in the download ). There fifteen total plugins that are in the JENNAv2 suite. As the final builds and documentation are done the archives on the site will be updated. You can just download the new archives and place them in the plugins folder. If JENNAv2 is already registered the new plugins will be registered.

Disclaimer: I know this seems a bit weird ( why would users pay for something not complete? ). Well, I had several requests for NICKL and displaceVIEW ( as well as the rest ). When I explained the current state several users asked ( pleaded ) that I release a progressive update. Here it is. It is only there if you wish to purchase it. I ask no one to purchase it who has reservations about such a deal. I believe many users will come on after the next few weeks after seeing the progress.

Ok, ok, the pricing... $100 to upgrade from v1.0x ( requires validation against the bhodiNUT database so the key takes a few hours to return to you. $300 for the complete purchase.

For those asking about PENNY and SLA with AE. There will not be a crossgrade to the AE texture system. And it will be released after PRALINE for C4D.

OK, now feel free to ask questions, or bat me over the head... :argh:

If downloaded the JENNAv2 plugin suite and it didn;t work as expected or you saw the "Seed Release" but download again. I had included the incorrect .xdls. My sincerest apologies. Should be fixed. Try again please. ghosterTAG is in the plugin group and works without any purchase!

have fun!

I understand if it is out of your price range. But as far as functionality value, wait and see what is in JENNAv2. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Comanche, are you Andreas Calmbach? If so, please email me at darf@cidertank.com.

have fun!

Not out of my price range and no doubt about the functionality value, Darf. I'm shure there's plenty of extreme cool stuff in JENNA v2. But the Jenna customer is FORCED to purchase those cool extras, even if he/she just wants to get the plugin running with R8. It's 66% of the price for v1.

Comanche, are you Andreas Calmbach? If so, ...

Yes I am. :)

i got a few questions...just want clearing up.

1) is this a beta? and you can then update to final once released?

2) examples and documention point to the same pdf...is this right?

3) do i understand correctly...jenna v2 available currently only contains the following. (displaceVIEW, ghosterTAG, NICKL)

and DOES NOT CONTAIN? (for now)
ITERATOR, TWEENER, GRIDARRAY, MESHARRAY, ALLIE

then later on some other stuff is being added...the really funky toys...

thanks.

(any sort of timescale to ITERATOR, TWEENER, GRIDARRAY, MESHARRAY, ALLIE.....stuff?)

i think 100 dollars - 93 euros isnt really that much, not for such a great plugin, it is also growing as i understand, hope there will be velma included, one thing i would hope for.

i will wait a few days bnut i guess i will do the update for it will be 150 later.

darf also has to do his living, coding is hard work, so want a good plug, dont complain if it costs something. you wouldnt want this with your work- high quality but low price? right?

cheers

i still wanna see some examples! ive never seen jenna or any of the ex-bhodinut now darf plugins. I would like to see what they do before dropping $300.

Although i do have confidence in them as everyone is extremely happy about all of it.

EDIT: TO DARF.

Would it be possible to give me a simple explanation (or post it on the website) what these tools do. I think that (like i said above) it isrequired that i know what they do...i am interested in the plugin suite based on reputation...but as i dont do animation, animations tools do me no good. So...before spending that kind of money i would like to know what type of functionality i will get.

Yeah - but itīs 300$ if you donīt have ver. 1.0!! That amount will get you Kaydara Motionbuilder and a night out with your girlfriend! Itīs more than half the price of R8! It really has to be very good and very useful!
Right now I think it is to much. Also considering you donīt even know what youīll get! I need to be convinced......

hey darf like others have said id really like some sort of demonstaration of what it can do cause im debating between a couple of big plugins right now and sadly i dont have version 1

flingster

it it really expensive?

jenna 2 (to be completed)
$300 new license
$100 upgrade

Ozone 2.0 (for Cinema 4D) Complete Product US$199
Ozone 2.0 for Cinema 4D - Vue 4 Owner US$149

motionbuilder (cinema support to be completed)
1 year license only (personal edition)
$100
after one year upgrade license will be $200-250 afaik.
(totalling around $300-350, instead of $995)

Realflow - $1195, no support single license
Realwave - $535

Shave and haircut
$349

dunno really its all relative....
that said...as i would be a new user i would like to see it cheaper...but i would also like to see it completed...boxed, CD, documentation etc.

just my ten cents...no flames please.....

Darf, would it be possible for you to post some of the old work, that was in the gallery at bhodinut.com?

that should help to convince people a bit more.

lllab

oh yes,

i think the webpage need smore explanation and examples, even more than bhodinut had.

one problem with jenna was the marketing i think. i the german forum for example just a few peaople know what darf posts here.
all this information should also be on the cidertank page.

just my 2 cents

I agree on examples, explanations etc. Ideally, some of the more experienced users who also had Jenna1 etc should join in.

Apart from that: my personal point of view.

Jenna has never been a plugin: it was a suite of great extensions to the tools of C7.
Jenna 1 was a suite of 5 "plugins":

* Iterator for the creation of repetitive objects
* Tweener to interpolate two source objects. A blender if you want to.
* Gridarray to generate copies of a source object on the volume, faces, edges and corners of a 3D grid
*Mesharray to repeat objects over any object, "skin" that has polys or even splines.
*and then, last but not least: Allie. When I uninstalled C7, I was still baffled by its endless options. I remember that it used image maps (even SLA and 3D noise!) to offset, rotate and scale source objects.

All 5 were/are non-destructive.

The more experienced users will probably remember what Smells Like Almonds meant for Cinema6. Yes: it had to be bought separately: I paid 407 DM for SLA2, being some 200Euro or USDollars. Without SLA, I would never have gone for Maxon. And I am conficent that Darf has a similar trick now in his magician's hat.
I see the new Jenna more as another module to Cinema8.1. Like Bodypaint, Shave, Pyro and even the new XFrog4 to be released soon.

lllab
05-21-2003, 03:03 PM
right, it could be more like another module,

but what i meant it should be presented more in a way, that also people dont knowing the old plugins and/or bhodinut can realise the funktionality within these cinema extensions.

i loved jenna 1 and i am very looking forward for the realease of the v2 modules od jenna, also think the price is o.k.
but when hearing people complain i see they dont realize waht it really is/ hopefully will be becouse there is almost non information on the website, no gallery, no pictures no animations etc....

darf is posting stuff in forums but i think this is not enough to reach all the potential plugin customers.

darf might see this very different of course...?

however, i myself dont care and i will upgrade from jenna1 anyway... so i am at least one buyer :)
i am very happy about jenna 2 and the forthcoming upgrades.

cheers

stefan

Jenna 1 was a killer, and the price is ridiculous considering the potential. I think there was some neat examples posted by mdme sadie on another thread.

congrats Darf
