Title: Meeting the sorcerer alligator
Name: Diogo Gonçalves Ferreira
Country: Brazil
Software: Photoshop

This is one of six illustrations I made for an illustrated book project. It's a story based on brazilian folklore and amazon characters. This is the first illustration of the book and it presents us the main character called "Somanlu" on the left side of the picture

I personally think this an interesting piece. There's lots of texture and it feels like a hybrid of a wood carving and colored pencils. The rendering of the human anatomy reminds of me of a very old style of drawing that I cannot think of the name of.

A few things bother me though. I don't like how the alligator's arm gets lost when it overlaps with his body, how static his lower half is in comparison to the upper, and the fact that it doesn't seem like he's looking at the child.

Other than that, it's charming in its own unique way.
