View Full Version : Xpresso sound node

Hi - has anyone here had any luck using the Xpresso Sound node, introduced in 8.1? Whatever sound files I give it, it seems to come up with zeros from all outputs.

I'm trying to get an effect similar to the old BluntTrauma example, where speakers and volume bars reacted to the volume of the sound playing, but so far I can't get anything to work.

Any help much appreciated...

Hi,

Did you give a name of a sound file (wav for Win, or aiff for Mac) in the Attribute manager while a Sound node selected in the XPresso editor?

If you did, it may be the matter of sound card, or some bug.

hope this helps.

Hi H.Ikeda, I've tried using WAVs and AIFs in the attribute manager for the sound node, nothing happens. I'm on a Mac so the sound card doesn't really apply (it's built-in).

I'll try Maxon support, see if they can help.

This is resolved now - thanks Jay! - just FYI, it seems that the Sound Node is rather fussy about sample rates, audio compression and file types - I've not narrowed down which ones dont work, but uncompressed AIFs at 44.1KHz seems the most reliable format, or WAVs with 16-bit little-endian compression (but not AIFs, oddly).

And it's neat!
