Hi all

It's the first time I post in this Forum, but it's many weeks I'm lurking since there's LOTS of awesome artists here...

now it's time for me to ask for some help

I would like to animate something like in the image (don't know the English word), and the whole group of gear and rail is attached on a mobile part (an arm) of an animated thing... I'm not experienced with controllers, is the Block Controller the way to do that? And how should I set each object and related controller?
I was using Parameter Wiring but it doesn't seem to work in all situations... because if I move the arm in some directions, the gear moves even if it doesn't!

Thanks in advance :)

Howdy !

welcome aboard : )
Maybe you could try to use the reactor controller ? To get a good idea of what it does, look it up in the help files or better yet, fetch the vtm that's at 3dbuzz (http://www.3dbuzz.com) it explains the use of it pretty well.
Basically, you could link movement of the arm and gear on a single axis, making the gear's motion dependent of the arm's.
Now i'm not sure it would fit all your needs, but you might want to give it a try !
