Another short shot of the animation I'm currently working on:

~350kb DivX 5.0.3

I know that the bright flash normally appears before the mushroom does - but it makes a really nice transition to the next scene, so f*ck reality :D

its a nice effect :) but it doesn't really look like a nuclear explosion, have a look at some of the videos on this site

the video linked below is also a good one to see the type of cloud motion generated by the blast

Cebas has a particule generator specifically for mushroom clouds (which scares me a little). It shipped with the trueSpace version of Pyrocluster, but for some reason it didn't come with the Cinema version--probably because tS doesn't have a built-in particle system. ;)

I didn't use any particles for this so a Pyrocluster pre-setup wouldn't help. The scene currently renders at around 20sec per frame. I don't think that I could come even close to that with Pyro.

You can make Pyro as fast or as slow as you want to, depending on the quality level you set. It would take longer with reasonable settings, but it would look a lot better.

The basic shape looks ok. Are you going for a realistic look? I suggest some atmospherics around the cloud. It will probably help integrate it into the scene. KUTGW.
