Niceuuu,

Oury c'est encore un beau taf, la bouteille manque un peu de poussière, on a l'impression qu'elle à jamais connu le fond d'une cave, l'étiquette aussi d'ailleurs. Le pain à la mie plate,

but that's not the most important, this is a great still life.

i think the Glovest destoys the "spirit" of the image

Nah... There is an old expression about a particular task "being as easy as trying to play violin while wearing boxing gloves," ie. foolishly impossible to attempt.

The image is very well done and has quite a bit of humor behind it as well... and could it be a shot at the software's renderer, since most people usually find it difficult to get this quality of work to come from it?

Why is everyone so worried about poly count all the time???(not directly pointing at you Gav)

If the box can handle it, who cares?? Its not for a realtime/game engine.

Awesome Job! I throughly enjoy the rendering. I thought the gloves could be taken out as well. I love them, dont get me wrong, but they kinda detract from the mood of the violin, the wine and the bread.

Overall....WOW! Great job. By the way, what program did you use?

Lovely texturing, composition and realisation......
Two questions:
do the boxing gloves and violin mark an allegorical theme?
and if your at school, what happens when your finished!!! ?

okay, I'm confused. Someone mentioned poser -- are these poser models or your models? I think that needs some clarification.

I really like this scene, reminiscent of a good still life from the 1800's. Is there a filter over the final image (ie in Photoshop) to give it the grainy/painterly quality, or is that a result of the textures or render settings?

Also, why are people saying the poly count is high? From what I can see, it is LOW considering the surfaces involved. I can't see any over-use of polys anywhere, everywhere they are dense is areas of high detail. I think, if you created these models yourself, they are very well done and make efficient use of their geometry.

However, I have to agree that the violin is too large in this scene, unless it's a new kind of bass violin or something.

Simply beautiful.

I love the contrasting theme. The brutishness of the boxing gloves and delicacy of the violin.

i love that bread:applause:

oury
05-19-2003, 10:02 PM
Of course, I have made the totality of the objects of this pic; the post of hiko was just a joke. (and I don't think their is some violin or boxing glove in poser)
About the poly count, their is 130 000 polys.
Finallly, the grainy/painterly is the result of the ligthning and texturing (3dsmax5) , the brazil render and some modification with photoshop (contrast-color-some details).

:bounce: thx for your consideration:bounce:

05-19-2003, 10:55 PM
Is the rendering edited with photoshop or something like it?

Djobouk
05-19-2003, 11:10 PM
Alors ca! Ca Assure!

If I get really - really - picky ..(et si je peux me permettre).. the central glove seems to float just a little. Perhaps increasing the shadow on the table below it would ground it.

Sinon c'est BO comme la ligne bleue des Vosge.

I really like your image. I think it is composed very well, not only in the modeling, texturing, and lighting, but foremost in the layout, and your choice of colors. Good to see more of the classical arts affecting contemporary CG artwork.

I think people have not given you a chance to defend your point, so I ask you in their stead: why have you chosen the boxing gloves to be adjacent to the viola? To me, it's kind of a juxtaposition of the brutal world of sports to things that are most often regarded as being the high-art of the viola, which is so delicate and is all about the finesse.

Did you work from observation on this at all? Did you have the objects at hand to model from? Did you set up the still life and compose from that?

Well done,
Chris

Great work! just small comment:

the violin has a too short and thick neck. and the surface is too bumpy. I assume you have used a reference for it, but it must be a bad reference, look at other pictures of violines!

Very nice work ;)
