How do I get vertex color on a low poly model to render?

Thanks

On any model, add a VertexColor Map to the diffuse slot of the material. You can of course use the map in any other slot to get different effects like opacity mapping, masking, specularity control etc. based on vertex colors.

Thanks alot Bobo, I will try this when I get home from work.

I tried placing the vertex color texture modifier in the diffuse, and works. The problem is that I need the diffuse slot for my model texture. I tried placing the the vertex color in ambient and then swapping texture to ambient. I still did not see what I needed to see as it was in the viewport.

thanlks

I hope you are aware of the fact you can mix maps in the material editor?
You could for example use an RGB Multiply map to multiply the Texture with the vertex colors. Or Composite, or anything else you want...
You can use the vertex colors in the Mask channel of a Mask or Mix map to control the blending of textures which is totally cool!
(Try using TreeMatoGraph to connect your maps in different ways and you will be surprised how powerful the Max Material Tree can be!)
