For those who use Painter, this was drawn mainly using the scratchboard tool. Yes, I dared to stray from the blessed airbrush. It's the most I've ever used this tool on one picture and it seems good for details such as the fine feathers. I drew this all in one go and it took just under 3 hrs.

Any comments or constructive critisism you may have would be welcomed as always. :)

nice rendering! the only parts that i feel could use more depth are the beak/bill, and the feet... the colors in those areas seem a little flat... otherwise... wow only 3 hours?

it is a oil painting

I never really finished it, it was for a contest so I was on a
small time scale.

really nice man, that second looks cool, dya work in miniature or something?!!
maybe make the ducks feathers look more er feathery, maybe use a textured brush if ya dont wanna render them all, looks a bit plastic at present, highlights are too hard.
but they are really good man, more more more!

I don't get it...is the duck walking on water? Or is he a hovering robo-duck?

It's a good image, but there's one thing that really bugs me.

I don't usually complain like this, but the "walk on water" feature spoils some of the realism. If the water was that shallow it would be transparent and not as thick as it's now. If you want to show it's webfeet (is that even a word :)), you should try adding some sand showing through the water.

Good work anyway!
