3 friends and I have completed a short film.

We call it "Groomba!"

It is a fake Japanese commercial for a robot that grooms you while you sleep.

Even though it was just for fun I now see million things I would change if I were to start again, but it's time to move onto bigger and better things!

All the 3d is C4D
AfterEffects for post
Assorted Photoshop and Illustrator for the rest!

C&C welcome!

That was certainly very different!

Very nicely made, I'd love to know how you got the look of the character interacting with the cloth on the bed and the mans' face, really added a lot to it. It's hard enough to get convincing contact between two CG characters:eek:

Brian

thats ace. i loved the Gorilla Sleepy sleepy part. it looked ace as well. i have pretty much chosen C4D as my weapon of choice lately and its good t see what you can get from it when in the right hands. Keep up the good work!

PS come and teach me how to use C4D

Very nice, I thought the 3D was excellent.
How was it lit? , the 3D of course. It looks like animated radiosity but C4D is piss poor at this.

I like it very much.

Beautifully made.

One thing though, the language is not well spoken. It appears that they are speaking Japanese, but somehow I don't understand well even though Japanese is my native language.

Oh, I loved that!

Love the piss-take of Japanese ads, with oddly psychopathic thing going on.

Hi Chris,
congratulations to you and your friends for the amazing work! I love the mixed media, and it feels so fresh to have something like a very cheap ad made with use of sophisticated techniques and technology. Kinda reminds me of "planet terror" in that sense.
Excellent work on the 3D as well, it feels very solid, the interactions with the actor are amazing and the animation is great.
I loved it!

Honestly I'd be pretty interested in how this translates :D

We wrote a script that was pretty ridiculous is nature, then translated it using an online translator. After that we cut down on the translation to be the proper length we wanted keeping the most interesting sounding words. Then to top it all off it was spoken by someone who has no idea how to speak Japanese. Finally when we cut in the last of the sound, we moved bits of the voiceover around to where we thought they sounded best. Sometimes just a word.

If any words successfully survived it's a miracle!
