Firsttimer here. This is my Tarantula.

I would love som feedback and critique cause I´m a little out of ideas of how to easily improve it. Some of the things I know I´m gonna do is to totally replace the sand/ground texture with some displaced texture to make it look like there is actually sand in the sand :) Also I´m not even close to finished on the lighting, and I'm not happy about the pose of the tarantula.
Kindo' given up on the fur, i guess it was ment to look horrible how ever much work you put in... am I right? :annoyed:

Anyway, I probably wont be able to work anything on this until this month is over but I hope i´ll still have the ambition to continue in the start of may...

No bugs sorry...
Though I am planning to make a cameratracking/animation of the tarantula being the victim of another fierce monster:
A huge 2 feet Cairn-terrier :)

the last tarantula I saw was darker than that. But it looks good.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!! I hate spiders!!!!!

Cool model, Sgt Pepper - but I think you need to really create more dramatic lighting to do it justice. It's just begging for more contrasty shadows :) Also, try using a wider camera angle to make it look truly terrifying :p

I'm looking forward to seeing it doing battle with the Cairn-terrier :bounce:

Thank You for those comments folks. Here are som comments on those comments...

Gilgamesh: Tarantulas come in as many colors as Win XP :)

Leigh: I hate spiders myself, more than anything... Thats why I think its probably a good idea to work with one, I´m also looking forward to seing 'Eightlegged Freaks' this summer :) I will work on the lighting as You suggested. That Cairn-Terrier of mine actually looks alot like that Scottish Terrier of Yours :)

nice image Sgt.
I think as Gilamesh said it looks a tad light.

I don't have a trantula here at home, hehe, but I think a combination of darkening the mesh below the hair and adding backlight to a lesser lit environment would give him more depth over all

great work though:beer:

Adam: I know the image is extremely bright, with really bright shadows, kind of hurts my eyes everytime I look at it. But my plan for the picture was to try to create a realistic "in-the-middle-of-the-desert-sun-lit" scene, and the shadows outdoor are rather shy actually because of the sunlight bouncing around on everything...

What I was planning to improve in the picture was the crappy rock the Tarantula sits on... Though what do You know; all the sudden I got all inspired by all of the kick ass texture-challange work shown and wanted to make som advanced maps myself. So to hell with that rock :wip:
I went outside looking for something to recreate and came in with a snail :) So now I´m trying to make a realistic-looking snail, with all of its cool details like the transparant body making it possible to see its intestines  :)

Leigh: I love Your swedish I would love to hear it live :)
Wow You really learned swedish because of Gyllene Tider :applause: And about listening to them nowadays lets just say: me neither...
Though if You still dig the language I could recommend some really good new swedish music, depending on what kind of music You like of cause...
Anyway, whats Your business here in sweden? You should really try to get here as soon as possible so You dont miss out on the swedish "Sommartider Hey Hey Sommartider" :)
