Title: Mercedes-Benz E class 550
Name: Carrie Park
Country: USA
Software: Maya

This is my first hardsurface modeling to study the car with Maya. I created it from Nurbs and then converted into Polygon.
I digged into the headlight for this car. Rendering is still issue for me

Thanks! :)

Here is my more traditional works.

pretty fine model,

how long did it take to complete this? Now you should focus on some rendering and environments also to bring your work to next level :)

Thanks for comment!

For modeling, it took a week for body and a day for other each details such as headlight and backlight... I have been rendered with Mental Ray and still learning about shading and rendering. Rendering was the issue. To get used to render my car including occlusion images, it took about 2 months.

Right!. The environment and rendering would be my next step~.

Cheers:love:

Hey, great model, especially considering it's your first hard surface model and the fact you used Maya (<- Joke, I'm an XSI geek :D). I would say you are being slightly let down by the lighting and materials, if you could get a better lighting and shading model on the car, it would make a massive difference.

Try placing more area lights and reflector cards around the vehicle and have a close look at how other artists\ magazine ads use reflections and highlights on all the main features of the car, like the headlights, alloys, silhouette etc.

One last thing, consider the camera angle to best show off the shape of the car; you seem to have quite a wide angle on all those shots which elongates the shape and doesn't show the car at it's best. You've got a really nice model there so I'm sure you could show it off better! :D

the light need more reflection and lighting is the most inportent thing
model looks good and materials too keep it up

Wow, I got impressed by your comment. KnickKnack!

Since I started to study hard surface modeling, I realized that rendering and lighting really help to build every details of the model. Therefore, I got interested in rendering and lighting. Of course, camera position as well, as you mentioned.

I will keep finding the best one for my model, in terms of lighting, rendering and camera angle, from more research.

Thank you, KnickKnack! :)

Best,

Hey, X-796

Right! Reflection! I should research about it.

When I was testing my car with Mental Ray, I was having hard time because of waiting. It took about 10 min. After rendering, sometimes, I found dust stuff on the surface. That killed me. I had to find what cause some dust things.

Rendering and lighting require my patience.

Thanks for comment. ^.^
