Hi there, boys and girls.
I've been using 3D Studio MAX for some time now, but never really explored the texturing part of it.
Right now I'm modeling a comic style Marilyn Manson model for a swedish Marilyn Manson-fan board.
Probelms occur, ofcourse, when I try to UVW him

I've put a cylindric UVW on his head, and that results in a pretty good checker-map. Besides his large nose and under the chin. As well as the neck.
When using "Unwrap UVW" the neck and chin, as well as eye sockets and nose all get mangled up into the mesh and I can't separate them. When I try to use "Planar" in the modifier, it results in a mesh that's, to say the least, horrid.
The top of the head works with the "planar", but nothing else. I need the texture on the head and arms, since he's wearing quite a lot of make-up and has tattoos...
The arms I can do, but the face gets all screwed up.

If you've got some tips about how to UVW a head or have links to something of the sort, I would be very grateful.

Pictures can be provided if needed.

Thanks!

Try this tutorial, adjusting it to work in 3ds max...
