dont understand the last step on this page...how am i supposed to weld it? i tried a few times in different ways but cant manage to get rid of that annoying vertex in the middle. I also tried to chamfer the vertex into 4 vertex and then weld each one of them into theyre outer one, but still got no good result...

aid me on this one please.

Can't you turn on the 3d snap and drag the middle vertex to one of the outer vertices and then weld/collapse them?
With the 3d snap on the vertices will 'snap' exactly onto eachother when moving.

the problem is not welding the vertex(i can hit the vertex i want fine)
the problem is when i Do wel it with an outer one instead of having a polygn without any vertex´s inside i get one with a big "cut" inside...but anyway i´ll try it one more time with 3d snap

anyway, thanx...

any more help will be apreciated

I guess you could delete the 4 edges coming out from the vertex instead. Selecting them and pressing backspace should work.

Good luck dude.

Strange, that was the way I solved it when I tried out the tutorial. The welding part just didn't make any sense too me.

u mean i should delete it? it doesnt make any sense to me too welding this but he says "weld" :wip:

i think this is one of the most perfect tutorials out there, but its problem is "one of the worstly translated" as well :shame:

I think might I have the answer to your problem. If you read closely he says "weld target" not "weld". The weld target function works like this: you select a vertex, when drag it onto a second vertex it will weld it.
Try it out, you might have to set the 'pixels' slider a bit higher to get it to work.

If it's more usefull than just moving the vertex and welding the vertex l? I dunno...

Pressing backspace while an edge is selected won't delete the face. Allthough it could be a Max 5.0 feature.

Try Marcels way though, since it's the way that' described in the tut.

lol! I wasnt using weld selected Vertexes, i was using the "weld target function"

Aaahh, but that is not a vertex, it is an edge that is supposed to be there.

Maybe this is the solution then:

In edge mode, select that naughty edge and press the 'invisible' button (under the rollout surface properties). That will make the edge invisible. It will still be there, you just won't be able to see it (and the tools will react differently to it in some occasions).

The other way around is also possible, if you select a hidden edge you can make it visible by pressing the 'visible' button.

Is your problem finally solved? :)
