Alright, I'm bracing myself for a flame war here, BUT...
Based on the trailers, I'm almost more excited to see this movie rather than the new Indiana Jones. Almost...

Wow this looks to really kick some ass - the shots look so colourful and the effects are amazing - this is what visual effects and filmmaking is all about :)
If I have one gripe its that well - where's the mummy? I don't want stone statues - give me my Mummy!! lol

Wow. After the awfulness that was The Mummy Returns, this actually looks pretty awesome. I'm having a hard time imagining how they're going to fit Jet Li, armies of the undead, a dragon and a yeti in there, as that seems like too much badass for one movie to handle, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

not that much of a mummy fan to be honest (I wont goto the flicks to see this). But, that trailer was about a million times better than what i was expecting. I was expecting something that had a more direct to video feel about it.

I like these kinds of movies, but...
First, need NEW trailer music! Geez..
More use of Massive, it looks like. Are there always thousands meeting in the desert?
The dragon. Was that Ghidora from the Godzilla movies? Looks pretty much like it to me.
Yeti looked a bit like the "bumble snow monster" from the Rudolph animated show.
We'll see...

You say this like it's a bad thing. Bumble and Ghidora kick ass!
But yeah, major points lost for no Rachel. They didn't even mention Evelyn in the trailer or include Maria Bello's name in big letters so I suspect they know they screwed up there. Looks like there are quite a few rumors as to why she declined, from scheduling conflicts to a bad script to pregnancy. Whatever the excuse, it's still pretty disappointing.

Im sure you know but a dragon with more than one head is called a Hydra.
why not?
Im sure you know but a dragon with more than one head is called a Hydra.Because there's no hydra in Chinese culture and dragon is perceived to be a heavenly creature.

I must say that the movie looks much more interesting than I initially anticipated. Although the lack of Imhotep will be mourned.
My main concern is Rob Cohen. The guy makes dumb action movies like The Fast and the Furious, XXX, and Stealth that take themselves way too seriously. I fear that The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor will be the same way and will try to be a deep and intelligent film, going against what the first two Mummy movies were about.
That's what made the first two Mummy movies so great: they were dumb fun and they relished being ridiculous, and by doing that, they were endlessly inventive. Hell, even the crappy effects in The Mummy Returns (certainly one of ILM's most embarrassing assignments of the CGI era) weren't enough to keep me from enjoying the movie. Despite the fact that Stephen Sommers often gets carried away with the action sequences, he's still got to be one of the most imaginative writer-directors out there; imagination is something I appreciate above all else.
I just hope that Sommers, who I believe is producing the third installment, keeps a tight leash on director Cohen and keeps him from steering into the overly poetic and introspective route in a movie that will not be deserving of it. The Mummy movies were stupid, but they enjoyed being stupid, and because of that, they were great.
I'm guessing that Digital Domain will be handling the battle sequences and Rhythm & Hues will be handling the character animation?

I am a humongous fan of the original Mummy movie. I just loved the smarky attitude of Fraser, who was juxtaposed to Weisz (no more Weisz :(. Then The Mummy Returns came out and I remember weeping in the aisle after the most horrific CG special effect I had ever seen in a movie to ever grace this piehole (and basically started the entire CG uncanny valley). I agree with above that this stays as much comedy as adventure and they'll be fine. Regardless, I've always been a huge fan of adventure movies with comedy mixed in: Pirates, Romancing the Stone, LoTR, Mummy, etc. Bring it on!

This looks very promising after the fiasco of the second movie. Too bad Weisz departed from this due to the script, and that Yeti almost looks like the one from Monsters Inc. ;-). The 3 headed dragon alsoseemsa bit excessive. I'll catch it anyway.

I did.Ugh... That is a BAD review. Take it a grain of salt because he just sounds like the typical jaded reviewer.... and it seems like he was more interested in showing off how he had seen Indy before everyone else. Those spoilers were totally unnecessary.

Seconded. I re-watched the original Mummy last weekend and only reaffirmed my love for Rachel. She really is a huge part of the charm of the movie. If Harrison Ford hadn't have signed up for the new Indy movie, it shouldn't have been made.
No hate on the whole Dragon thing (or on Maria Bello) intented but Rachel is vital to the franchise.

When I showed my brother the trailer I mention how weird it would be not having Rachel Weisz in the movie. His response was "Who cares, she's ugly, she was the one irritating thing about the movies" He asked who the new girl was and got exited cause he thought it was Kate Beckinsale. He goes... "Shes so hoooott!" This is my 26 year old brother hahaha. I feel that Weize was charming, but at the same time, I am a girl so........ He got quieter when he realized who the new girl was. Guess he wasn't as impressed  . Anyways I am exited about this movie. I haven't seen a good Brendan Fraser movie in awhile.
