View Full Version : different results from same effector

Can someone please explain why this is happening?
I've got a single Plain Effector in a Cloner.
It moves the cube clones in Y as I would expect.
It moves the cube clones in Z within the Effector as I would expect. However, outside or the effector, the Z parameter seems to mirror back to before the clones entered the effector. This behaviour does not happen with the Y move.
Hmmmm. Perplexing.

Any help on this is appreciated.

Thanks,
m

It's working as expected. The Effector moves the clones up in Y by 100 and across in Z by -400. The falloff just creates a gap between the clones that are within the falloff and the ones on one side that are in the start position and on the other in the end position.

The effect is the same for Y, the clones after the effector aren't ramped up after all but stop in Y at the new position, if you wanted to have that stepped up effect forever then you'd have to uncheck Clamped in the falloff and remove the Spline shape (right click and choose reset).

What I'm not understanding is that if Z returns to it's state before the effector, why doesn't Y? I would think Y would also want to drop back down to where it was before it entered the effector, the same way that Z seems to do.

Z doesn't return to it's state before the effector, it's offset by -400m, same as Y is offset by 100m. What are you expecting to see happen?
