Hi

I have created a robe with Maya Cloth, after i run a local simulation the robe "shrink" to fit the character. The hood and the sleeves end look wrong so i change the cloth mesh with sculp tool. After that i press "Update cloth state" and "save as initial cloth state" i delete the cache but after i start playing the animation (walk cycle) the cloth isn't only moving with the character but also try to "shrink" to fit it once more, of course by that it start to look like it was before the changes i made. My question is how can i fix it, so the cloth will move with the character bend etc. but not "shrink" to fit it? Is it even possible?

thx

From what I understand about the cloth sim, you need to give it some time to "shrink" down before you start your movements. Try to start the cloth sim about 10-20 frames before your movements. I think that will help. You need to run the sim first. Then tell it to stop fitting, and then you can animate.
Double check the docs that come with Maya, I'm pretty sure they explain this.

I think the reason why the cloth is shrinking has something to do with the "collision distance".
If I understand correctly, that somehow controls the separation between the character and the cloth.

I could be wrong, though. I am not that experienced with cloth

Give it no time to rest... i forget the terminology, I havnt used cloth in a while... you dont need to run the initial sim with a cape.
