This was the best sci fi movie of 2002.

Cool beans.. But, $29.99 list for a single disc and all it has is commentary and a little EPK piece? And no DTS? Someone needs to tell them DVDs are getting cheaper.

With the amazon/etc. discount it's not bad, but sheesh. Too many other new flicks with better extras hitting a lower price point for the others coming out to keep doing this. Have seen a few other recent releases that hit the "they want how much?" point vs. the "hey, release day special for $16, I'm so there" sweet spot. I hope this isn't a backwards trend. :hmm:

I am sure you can find it for cheaper at your local dvd shops.

Or you can rent it if you are unsure of the movie.

I raced down on the day it was released... only to find out that it was only in the US :(

Snubbed again.

Ah the movie itself is fine, worth getting, I was just complaining about MSRP vs. amount of content, List for a single disc with only commentary should be $20-ish, 2 disc sets with extras are more $30-40 range, unless they're being jerks. That was my only gripe. That and it gives me the sinking feeling they might do a special edition later, I hate it when they burn you on those without announcing later plans. :annoyed:

MSRP always defines how much it is at amazon or anywhere, however much they feel like knocking it down..usually amazon is ahead of the curve, I get a ton of stuff there! (the 40% preorder discount is nice also) When I hit stores in "the real world", it's usually due to release day specials (circuit city, best buy often have stuff cheaper than normal only on first day), some amazing sale, or because I want it RIGHT NOW and the tax balances out the shipping. :D

Anyway, this has ZIP to do with this particular movie, sorry.

Best Buy usually has it for less the day it comes out.

the online ad has it for 19.99 plus i think shipping is free

I rented the movie from a tip from a friend.
That ending was great.

How did this totally blow over everyone. I heard it was only in the box office for 1 week or so... what's the deal, i liked it a lot.

I was going to see this movie the weekend it came out, but something came up so I decided to see it the next weekend. When I went to check movie times the next week I was shocked to see it was already out of the theater. :thumbsdow
I just rented it from Netflix and watched it yesterday, and all I can say is it's an atrocity this movie was so poorly promoted and funded. It has its problems, but it deserved much better support from whatever studio promoted it.
The end duel was beautifully choreographed, and that part in the shootout before it when he kicked up that machine gun, too cool for words... Such cool action! The scene where him and Mary are looking into eachothers eyes ***** SPOILER ****** as she's getting roasted ****** END SPOILER ****** was well done too, quite touching in a otherwise very cold movie. Gotta love the puppy scene too. I only rented it, but I plan on buying it now, definetly a keeper.

Considering the movie subject, I was expecting something cheesy and cliched, but I was very suprised at the quality of writing and acting in this movie, not to mention the fight scenes and special effects! I might have to go ahead and pick up the DVD.

I was really blown away by it when I saw it, expecting nothing more than a cheesy 1½ hour time waster. But boy was I wrong!

What the studio was thinking when they PR'd this movie I don't know, but they sure did a pisspoor job of it!

I hope it goes the way of Fight Club and sells like hotcakes on DVD!

I doubt this movie was in Poland :shame: :annoyed: Will have to rent it....if it's available, of course. I'm not so sure of that

I too only heard about Equilibrium through CGTalk. If it was not for CGTalk I would have missed this one in the the theater. Glad I didn't. It was awesome. Yes, too bad it did not get the promotion power it deserved. Put me on that DVD purchase list also!

You know, I think I'll chime in here too and say, I did enjoy Equilibrium more than Matrix 2 also. There was something about those cleric gun/fight scenes that was "raw and fresh" you don't see everyday or expect but when they showed the cleric whippin those guns around and inflicting punishment, as Neo would say, "WHOA"!

I know Equilibrium did not have the financial backing Matrix does, but sometimes money is not everything. The Equilibrium story ROCKED! I have to think about purchasing the Matrix 2 DVD when it comes out but the Equilibrium DVD is a no-brainer, it will be purchased and watched over and over.

I'm sorry that I have to be the first to disagree with everyone but I did not enjoy movie. There was very little advertisement for it when it came out but I did see 2 commercials and that was enough to peek my interest to go and see it. I will say I think it could have been better if there were more fight scenes in the movie because those were very well done, but the story wasn't very interesting at all. As ridiculous as the explanation for gun kata was visually it looks great. Oh and the last fight scene was fantastic. However there were really only 3 of these action scenes and it wasn't enough to save the movie. I also think the whole concept of emotion police was incredibly cheesy. It's another example of an action film focusing too much on a story that's not strong enough for the movie to stand on.

I watched/listened to the director commentary, and I was suprised to learn that quite a few scenes ( especially action shots with a lot of squibs ) were literally one take, and most other scenes were ~3-4 takes. I can't believe they pulled this movie off with the budget they had, it's very impressive. I can't wait for Kurt Wimmers next film, he mentioned in the commentary that the end fight scene was a disappointment because it was supposed to have some other cool stuff in it that they didn't have enough time to do, and that he was going to do it in his next movie ( couldn't say what it was ). If that was a disappointment to him, I look forward to something he's proud of!
