View Full Version : Left Mouse button + C4D über-weirdness

Hi,

I'm experiencing the weirdest thing at the moment with C4D on a Mac Pro (in mid production of all times) When adding a Spline point or Polygon point using the Left Mouse button in any scene, the new point is stuck in Rotate Mode. See video here:

Its basically impossible to work with C4D right now and I've practically been scratching a bald patch on my head trying to figure this one out.

Is it possible that the C4D installation could have somehow become corrupted? or has anyone else ever experienced this.

Input highly appreciated.
Cheers / Alex

This looks like the old keyboard bug with a new face.
Try to reboot your machine.
Next time this happens, as soon as you notice it, go into the coordinates manager in scale mode, and type "-4" in the X coordinate scale box. This unlocks whatever is happening to C4D for me, every time (I get stuck on the rotate view command, usually).

Hey, fluffouille, thanks for your quick and helpful response. Much appreciated.

Rebooting and resetting the PRam on my machine did the trick. After reading your post, it dawned on me that my machine hadn't hadn't been rebooted in quite a while (sleep only) which may have caused this unusual behavior.

Phew... Ok, back to work!

Cheers / Alex

go into the coordinates manager in scale mode, and type "-4" in the X coordinate scale box.

Haha, how on earth did you find that out? :scream:

Exactly :surprised

Superior mind? urm... completely by chance
It only works if I do it right away, though. If I fiddle too much with the interface, my window of opportunity is gone.
This is the weirdest bug I've ever encountered, one that used to be Windows only but that started to creep up on OSX since R10. I have no idea why it's happening, and only with C4D.
Maxon has no idea either, which is more annoying.

Exactly :surprised

Hmmm? I just wondered how someone gets the idea to type -4 in the x coordinate scale box to solve such a problem... but i didn't really expect an answer ;-)

If you want the full detail of how I stumbled on this, here you go :
One day I got stuck with my tools on the rotate view command.
Since it happens to me quite often, i knew I could still work with the coordinates manager, so I decided to go ahead and continue to make a few changes before restarting my computer.
Here is where chance hit me, I had to input "-4" in scale mode on the X axis.
Drinking habits always wants me checking if the bug is still there after I do anything, so I checked my stuck tool. Miracle, it was unstuck :)

Next time it happened, I tried it again, and found it work almost every time (except when I didn't do it right away).

Here you go, the story of my life :D

You shouldn't worry, this was only a kind of "hail to the master" ;)

Hah, what next, a bug that requires you to stand up from your machine, face the East and sing the German Anthem so loud Maxon can hear it?

Ive had this before, but for what its worth, not in the past 2 years, I thought it had been solved/gone away.

Anyway, its so impossibly un-repeatable that finding it and fixing it is virtually impossible.
