Incredible Work. Looks almost Photoreal.

BUT why you guys always use these very ugly and bad sharpening Filter? I can see this more and more these days all over the Internet. You're working hard to make such a professional Picture and then ruin the whole thing with a single click? So for the next time: less sharpening and it's perfect.

If you're after the special look that sharpening brings: there are some ways of doing this without Aliasing. Blur the Image 2 pixels wide with a Depth of field filter (without a z-map) don't use Gaussian blur because it's also evil :) then sharpening the picture until you're roughly at the same level as before. This way you have the look but without crunching all your edges. You can do this on an extra layer and lower the opacity a bit to mix it with your original.

Wow! Thats great lighting! I really loved the animation! How did you do the rag material over the light? Care to share? How long did it take to render?

Looks great! 4 stars!

I guy,

thank's for your comment. The sharpen question... This picture (4000x3000 px) is made for printer A3 with photographic paper. I print this 3 pictures and the "super sharpen" version is much better than "no sharpen" version. This is the reason :) .

If you want, i save the "unsharpen" version only for the web.

The Lamp material is a VRay2Side matirial with Displacement map. Very simple.

For the rendering time.... Augh... i've no hurry, so, i use my laptop C2C 2.0 GHz for this. Brute Force 42 subdivs :D + LC 3000 subdivs 3.0cm sample size. Like...mmm... 18h for each image . All material has a glossy (18subdivs) and the rock displacement with hi res displacement map (2.000x2.000px) . Same for the parquest. Texture size is 2.048x2048px. I use a 4 GB RAM with XP64bit, becouse XP32 and 2 GB crash 3ds max.

4 VRayLight on windows (18 subdivs shadows) and one direct for the daylight version. For the Night i use only VRayIes file (i love whis lights, very fast rendering and good quality. The 3ds max ISE light are so sloow in VRay.).

Tha's all. If you have some questiom, i'm here :)

PS: do you have recognize the sound track ;)

Hi,

18h beacouse i use a semi-unbiased solution, with very HI quality. But i want to try. In this work i've time to R&D. If i use a IR+LC i can get very-similar result in 2-3 hr ;).

bye

Oh man. I have got to test VRay. So many people get extremely good results out of it, and i agree: I thought it was Maxwell!

keep up the good work.

Awesome design, I'm really impressed. I love that mediterranean style, but I always imagined it would be hard to work with. Whatever the case you seem to have aced it! The rocks add a beautiful natural element.
