View Full Version : Q: GI or "traditional" lighting setup gives more control?

I have some issues with a scene, it is a low poly interior where the lighting will be baked in small textures, for real time render.
Now I insist with a traditional setup, with some shadows only lights, fill lights, key lights, all the jazz, because I consider we would have a lot more control over the lighting.
However, i am a bit affraid I am wrong, because I am quite dull at lighting.

So the question would be can GI give better control over the areas with lot less tweaking? for me the amount of time to work would be the same with less control if using GI.

A nice light rig with GI generally looks better than just the nice light rig, provided that nothing odd happens. I guess what you could do is bake out the GI and the direct lighting separate, and then fine tune both individually.
