CGTalk - Expanding Outlines

I'm talking about a kinda old-school effect. Very similar to video feedback where some object, text, a person, etc. has traced outlines growing from it, like ripples in a pond. It's kinda hard to describe.

You can see a good example in the Snoop Dog "Sensual Seduction" music video.

Radio Waves, Auto-Trace+animated mask expansion, Auto-Trace+Shape Layer Stroke Offset, Echo, Minimax, Matte Choker. Take a pick. Any of them can provide some solution or part of it, depneding on which look you're after. There's certainly other canned effects in BorisFX or whatever that can also be used.

Possibly useful is a script that is the equivalent of repeater for shape layers, except it can be used on a regular layer or precomp.
