View Full Version : Zombie Mom - WIP(nudity)
05-14-2008, 10:28 PM
I started modeling this before school started based off my friends concept that I have always liked. Now that school is over I have some time to finish her.
The idea is that the baby will be born (more or less-he found his own way out) but still attached to the umbilical cord, and both of them will be zombies. I have the base mesh for the mom done and I am moving on to sculpting the high res and starting the texture.
Here is a wireframe shot:
Here is a shot of the head so far with a color and normal map- both still in progress.
Any critique is welcome!
(How do you get thumbs to show of your images without actually uploading smaller images? I tried using html code but its not working)

I have a feeling this is gonna look really gross when it's finished. Will be great to see the whole thing textured up and with the baby in there! Cool idea by the way - Movies have done everything from virtually decapitated zombies to clown zombies, but I've never seen a mum zombie with a baby coming out of its stomach before. Touchy subject?
BTW you should have a format bar above your text field when writing a post. There is an image insert icon there. Just enter the address of the image into the dialogue.

Yeah I tried the insert image and I saw it gave you manipulators to re size, but when I went to preview post it was the original size again.
Thats why I liked the concept, it hasnt really been done before - my friend just has a sick imagination I guess.
Here is a small update:
I know the ears don't look too great, but I plan on making some hair so you probably wont see them in the end.

Hey the ears aren't that bad ! but I do have a problem with the square breasts and the hole in here stomach ,the hole has too many divisions but it is just a stright beveled cylinder which makes the extra divisions unnecesary .
Keep up the good work

If its going into a scultpting program trying to keep the quads a similar size all over the model will help when you subdivide the model, otherwise you could end up with up with degenerate triangles (very long thin triangles where 2 or more vertices share the same space) which is bad.

Thanks, I hadn't really looked at the mesh in awhile, but I will go over it a few times.

Yep, Your friend has a really sick imagination. But it you want to make it even sicker...
rather than being born the zombie baby would eat it's way out... now that's sick...
As for the hole in her stomach, well how about either making it a little edgier to include some intestine or organs.

Yeah I was considering that, but I will wait to see how gross it looks with the cord and the baby.
I am in the process of moving, so I wont be able to work on it for about a week.

You might want to even out the polys if you want to take into mudbox/zbrush. its coming along nicely

Alright I am moved into my new apartment and ready to start working on this project.
I started the high res for the normals and got a texture going:
