Hey everyone,

Im currently having trouble in rigging a dinosaur feet at the moment. I got all the Joints layed out and a IK handle from the hip to the ankle so far. Where do I go from here in terms of having more control for the rotation of the ankle and the toes? Would I have to make seperate reverse ankles for each individual Toes + joints?

i dont know, how he will walk.
But i suggest making a footroll rig, just get that done.

than you have the basic walk movement ability,.
Now you want the toes to move with it, you could just ad the toes to the footroll rig.
make it like a handrig (slider controls etc) than wire movement of the toes to the footoll.

So when you do the walk movement with your footroll, the toes will move accordingly .

Well, on one I did, I' set it up so when I lift the foot, the toes fold down and together and when the foot gets to a certain spot on the way down, the toes play out and flatten.

These can be made to be done manually as well.

Hey guys,

Well I was given so many direction at school and here on the forum. So I basically ended up doing a reverse foot on all the toes. It was alot of work, but I dont know if this was the best way in making the feet movable and toes.

I was wondering if there is a link where I can learn how to make a slider for the toes? That would help qutie alot~ But overall, do you guys think this was the best approach to rigging the feet?

As one of the other guys said it depends on what the creature is doing, but I would suggest scripting the setup process for one toe and then repeat for the others.

You could have simple fk controls, you could have a series of set driven keys, you could even put some form of dynamics in the toes with an adjustable ground plane.

What does the shot/animation call for?
