This Short it is the ugliest thing that I have ever seen, it is from gallery of the horrors !!!

Bad Model, Ugly Animations...phuah! :thumbsdow

It's an offence to the Simpsons series and the 3d version of PDI's HOMER 3D (1996)!!!

I must say that i almoust agree whit Daxx about some thing. If it comes to non comersial short it's ok, but if the guy start to tell me how hard it was to get to this result and blah blah i will say only one thing.

The models doesn't look right. I thing they need a lot of tweaking :P

Futurama 3d this will be great :P

BTW did i mention that i'm a Simpsons fan ?

this animation, quite frankly, is not a finished piece. i can't believe they interviewed this guy. i've seen MUCH better from student reels.

i know whoever posted this is a lightwave fan, and thats great - but this is not a good example of lightwave's software.

lets go down the line:

textures: terrible - 1st semester student quality - marge actually has eyelashes PAINTED on her head, when everyone knows that they are on the end of her eyelids - i guess this was too tough to model/animate.

models: poor, at best. the mouths aren't complete, and this effects the animation. and as i looked at the wireframes, i couldn't help but wonder if they could possibly fit MORE polygons onto the characters... there is no way this would fly in a production environment.

animation: this is sooo dissappointing. bart leaving the classroom and jumping on his skateboard is done so poorly it hurts. the principle of anticipation, the squash and stretch, and so on, are completely ignored.

lighting: terrible. it actually looks like standard lighting.

i can't believe this was held up as an example of something to strive for. and he even had a frame-by-frame animation to work from - that is probably the most ridiculous thing about this short.

oh...my...god! I have to agree with mattconway, this is really not good. I've got no experiense in the field (just a hobby), but I definetly have the courage to say "Even I can do better then this".
this student the've intervjued probably bribed the intervjuer or something.

Must agree, the animation and models was totally dissapointing, concidering that they just had to read from an open book...

What are you all whining???

it looks simple, simply because the original series looks simple! if you want to blame sombody blame Matt Georing!

It took hight places in competitions, & I agree...
you think you can do better? REALLY? I saw some of your works & it really not better! [meaning that yellow3D is great -- & so yours! all at the same level of greatness  ]

Because it needs alot of improvement. Its ok for a hobbyist, but if you are going to praise something , please make sure it raises the bar. This doesn't improve on the original in any fashion. A for effort but the final result requires a bit to be desired.

Why blame Groening? His designs are classics, and we've seen that the 2D designs can stand up pretty well in the 3d world. Look at the wide array of toys and other products availble, and of course PDI's bang on job of doing a CGI homer and bart that do not suck.

I have absolutely no doubt that half the people lurking this forum and myself can do a better job but thats not the point, the end result is still lackluster compared to whats out there in the industry.

I personally like dthe style and thought it was a fun animation....but that just shows that we all have our own opinion:thumbsup:

Yes and my opinion also is that it's not anything at all speacial. It seems it's getting plugged just because lightwave loyalists need to plug something. In fact it's obvious.Nothing against LW,it's a fine app,but the work is nothing at all worth getting this kind of attention. Not bad mind you,it's OK,but come on... :p

No hard feelings...
