You have some really fun stuff on your reel. Love the first eye FX animation. I don't know about that robot thing at the end. I'd just get rid of it and have something stronger to finish it off. Kinda feels like filler to me.
crits..theres alot of good stuff there but i think that you are trying to do everything, and sometimes it's best to stick with what you are good at...i just felt that there were too many influences of other people work, not enough of your own style showing through, and also the character animations need some more work..
however great modelling, lighting, and texturing... theres alot you are good at, but not much that you are out standing at...and thats the next step i think....well it's the next step for me anyways...

I dont get what your saying?
my work is 100% original, if there is one thing that I am known for is that I am original. :surprised
most of the work on my reel is more than a year old, so it might be the other way around.
and my style is that I try everything, because I want to be able to do everything.
I am no superb character animator, but I like doing it and I put in my best work sofar. I am not "only" a modeller, I am also animator, and also lighter/renderer/texturer. I dont want to be just one thing because there is no future/fun in being just one thing, because I dont want to be one little bolt in a big machine. thats not my piece of cake ;).
I understand that most showreels on cgtalk are focussed on one thing(modelling/lighting/animating/etc) but I like the whole/complete 3d/vfx range, and that is what I like to do.
I hope that is obvious from my reel.
no flame/anger intended btw, its just that people seem to be so used seeing single sided showreels that its just odd when someone posts a showreel showcasing his abbilities.
cheers

people on cgtalk seem to be too used to all those student reels, with a funny little story or something.
having actually worked in production i am sure my showreel will look a lot like yours, showcasing the different projects ive worked on, and having worked at a small shop too, where i had to do everything from morphing to comping to whatnot, i guess it will look a bit half-baked to some people.
but considering shops around here are rather small ,chances are that they are looking for an all arounder again, since they DONT have 8 people working in their 3d department but maybe 2, so showing that you are an exellent modeller might get you nowhere there, since who is going to do the lighting and rendering and compositing, etc.etc.
ok, wrote too much already.
as for the reel: try to shorten the scenes with the probe coming out of the girls eye and the one where the train drives in front of that building, because at the end both start to look a bit crappy. the probe kind of jerks a bit and the building wobbles quite badly.
i really dig your cartoon stuff, especially the one with the little girl in the blue room.
I would take out the shot with the trolly altogether, if you don't fix it up. The camera tracking needs a lot of work, so either fix it or ditch it. Its things like that, that seem to stand out for companies as "bad" and thats what they remember you for.
The end of the little satellite thing in the girls eye needs to be fixed too, the thing wobbles like crazy. I liked the beginning part though when it came out of her eye.

about the trolly and the eye, the eye tracking was actually perfect(she moves her eye when turning her head)but I guess for some people it might look awkward. :)
the trolly shot needs to be cutof sooner indeed, Ill fix that asap.
thnx for the comments/crits
stimpy: thnx for understanding ;)

I see the problem. In a lott of other country's focussing on one aspect is the key. But in the netherlands that's a bit different. There aren't that many big compagnies around... So it maybe better to be a jack of al trades. I'm having the same problem, choosing between be really good at one thing, or just be good at a lott of things.
