My question is this. I have a house that I have modeled in Autocad, all the walls are on the Layer Called Walls-Interior. But they are seperate objects, as well as doors, windows, and so on. The problem that I am having is that If I want to transform one of the items in max, it selects every one of those items and the transform affects alllllll of them. When in fact i only want to modify a particular part. Now when I convert it to a editable poly, and then select the part that i want to modify, it works, but if I want to modify anything else on that same total object. it changes the change that i made to the first part, and so on and so on.
Please help, I have tried a couple of different forums and have had no success. I am definately a noob to max. I am an expert in AutoCAD so this learning curve is definately kind of steep.
I need it in laimens terms too

on the cabinet the door is supposed to be glass and wood, but it is all glass, im just frustrated right now
