after reading thru the attached thread and having a play myself, I can conclude that I'm still bloody useless with this node. heres the long n short:

basically, I have a polgon plane that is at 45degrees in X. I then freeze this transform which puts it perfectly where I need it. I shift my centre pivot to the edge I want to rotate the shape from but the rotate tool is still reset to match the global 0,0,0 space which aint helping.
I want one of the axis of my translate/rotate tool to point along the edge of my polyplane but still be at 0,0,0 values in the channel box. Is there:
A: a way to do this?

B: some poor soul who knows what the hell I'm on about.

if anyone can crack this - would be greatly chuffed.

cheers

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but the best way to do things like this is generally to parent->dowhatever->unparent. Also only apply freeze transformations to the channels you actually want freezed. If you could explain again exactly what you want to do I could maybe help a bit more.

basically If I have a polyplane, I place the centrepivot on the edge I want to rotate from.

Now I want to select 2 vertices and point the X axis along the edge that joins them effectively aligning the X axis on that edge but still leave the rotate values at 0,0,0 in the channel box.

hope this makes sense.
