This is PHOTOSHOP. Just a simple portrait but please send comments, if you like it or not and why, critiques and suggestions, etc. etc.

I'm planning to use the hair style of the second pic instead.

One more thing, I'm particularly interested in learning how to learn all the ways to use brushes in photoshop, special fading and all and making custom brushes for the hair effects, and trees, stuff like that. so if anyone can point me to a tutorial of that, I'll appreciate it. Thanks!

Ok, I worked abit more on it, and I think it's looking good, but I'd love to hear any comments, I don't know noone is making comments, it's as if this thread had a virus or something, please comment anything on this work, thanks...

The hair still needs loads of work but it's coming along... I think :s

I see you have the same problem with many views and no comments :) I'm not a professional, but I will say my oppinion.. I like the way you catch her character and the color on the background. Maybe it is still to smooth and needs some texture on the skin (more details like the strokes you made in the hair), like gentle spots or frecklings, but that's also thing I'm just trying to learn.. and I'm also waiting for some good advice from the people which are better at all these things :)

Anyway, good luck with it, it's looking nice..

Ajinak, thanks for replying! :) I appreciatte your comment, you're right it really needs that. I just got to work but I'm checking out your thread later today and will post comments. Actually it just struck me how I wanted people to send comments and yet I haven't made comments on other people's work. I'll do that. :)

im a total noob at 2d stuff, im more technical drawing/3d guy, so im reluctant to crit, but since you've not got many comments i'll have a go... ;)

the shading on her left cheek is making it look too hollow.
the perspective on the nose tip / nostril area is off. it needs rotating clockwise a degree or 2.
same for the point of the chin.

but it's a good likeness, has a nice painterly feel and its a million times better than i could manage.

Ok, the hair was a mess so I started all over again. I also worked some more on the lips, eyes, and skin, I hope there's a difference from the first versions.

Hair is looking much better now, I think.

If anyone finds this good, useful or awful hehe, or wants to give a critique, please please feel free to do so.

Here's a small improvement... What do you think about the color and the type of dress? Still a long way to go :S
