Every time I capture DV In adobe premier or some other softwarepack the can capture I capture on 720X576 ratio 1.07 PAL DV (the broadcast standard here).
But when I import me footage in after effects my footage seems to be to small in the width! like 5 pixels on both sides!
I have a compostion of 720X576 ratio 1.07 PAL DV

What can I do about it???

THANX!

It should be out of safe action so it shouldn't be a problem.

in AE right click on your avi footage and select interpret footage. Once inside click on main. After that zoom on down to the Other option section. U will see a dropdown menu, click on it and change it to PAL 1.07. That should fix your problem when u drag it over to your timeline.

Edit: oh, when u right click on your AVI footage it should not be the one in your timeline. IT should be the one in your bin.

Also, if its for broadcast, you should use 768x576.
make a non-DV pal composition, and fit your footage to it.

We've been having the same kind of problems lately on our digisuite system, except for the fact that the captured footage actually contains the black borders. Its part of the image resolution.
Anyone know what the problem could be?
tried everything from interpreting, to stretching.
I've been told it could be interference, or bad cabling.
We're capturing D-9 (digital-S).

hi folks!

i heard that those black strips occure when using footage which is captured with ordinary Mini DV Cam, its hardware based, the camcorder captures not the whole 720 pixels.

what i do most of the time when i want to put out these movies for web (where you would see those strips) i do a cropping while encoding the movie.

cheers

Hi,

Check if your Premiere capture settings are set right, maybe the problme is with Premiere.

This black borders are completly normal in both types of capture, digital or analog (in analog the boarders are bigger), but it's not a big deale since they are outside of the action safe area and won't be visible in any type of broadcast device, for encoding sessions all you have to do is crop your video borders.
This boarders may vary from system to system.

First you will have to interpret your footage in AE, select him in the project window and press: control+F, in this window set the pixel aspect ratio and field to lower or upper depending on your needs.

Another thing, AE will never show you the corrected aspect ratio on the comp unless you tell him to do it by pressing Alt+Ctrl+U and selecting use pxel aspect correction.

Well, I hope that helps,
See Ya!
