View Full Version : MotionBuilder bone name conventions

Hi all.

I use LW, but this post can also apply to Maya, since MB exports between both apps...

Is anyone in this forum familiar with the naming conventions that your skeleton needs when exporting a LW scene to MB.

I can find NOTHING in the manual on how to name stuff in LW so that MB's translation can be seamless.

Does anyone have a list or could you maybe post a screengrab of a bone heirarchy?

Open a character from the templates in MB. Then in the navigator click the + sign next to characters and you will see the characters name. Dubbleclick the character and now two tabs appear: One Character Definition and one Character Settings
Just open the Character Definition tab and under Characterize you will have all +sign next to the related bones. If you click one open you will see the namings of the bones
