MastaAzumarek 05-10-2008, 05:17 PM I'm getting a new graphics card for a gift, Nvidia Quadro FX 4600, and i've read somewhere that it needs at least a 750W power supply. Which power supply do u guys suggest i get?

750w for just one card sure seems overkill to me, however here's a quality brand (and my current psu):
PC Power & Cooling S75QB 750W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703009)
The FX 4600 is usualy only used in high powered systems. If you have for example two quad core Xeons, 8 GB RAM, several harddisks and what not and now add the FX 4600 to this the 750 Watt are not way of the mark. If you use the FX 4600 in a single CPU system you can get away with a lot less than 750 Watts.

Here's a wattage calculator to figure out how much power you need base on hardware you installed. It's needs to be updated, but should give an idea.

thanks for all the replies... i've used the calculator... i set the vga to integrated with motherboard... and got 328W...
Add 140 Watts for the FX 4600 power consumption, add a bit for safety and you end up in the 550 Watt range.
