Hi,
one method that I could suggest is:

to do the basic shapes, you need to build the top and the bottom rail curves, closed and with the correct fillets.
Then from surface toolbar choose the "Surface from planar curves" and select the curves, it will give you planar surfaces.
now you may build just one curve on the side, better 4. This will be the walls around the surfaces.
use the Sweep 2 rails to build the side, select on first the top and the bottom curves, then the section. You can also use the Surface from network curves if you mirror the side curve on the four sides of the object.

hi, I would recommend a different approach to do this.
You actually need only that base Rounded rectangle. Extrude it as you need it (with Cap set to yes) and using FilletEdge fillet the edges with desired radius...

I agree with Smasher ! try to do the basic out lines and extrude the shape, than you can just and fillit the edges around with the right angle, its the easer way. And to do the display, and other things you maybe try to do the basic lines too, and extrude them, later you put on the right position and use boolean difference.

In another way to do this very realystic is using sweep2rail, and doin the faces not togheter. But just do that way if necessary, because its very hard way if you don't know how to work in rhino yet.
