View Full Version : Vehicle: HDRI Jag
JeffPatton 05-16-2003, 05:13 AM I needed some vehicles to populate a city I am making. I wanted a really nice one for close ups. So, since I am unable to make a really nice car for closeup shots (still learning how), I bought one from turbosquid.
I am finally making headway with my paint material (any tips to make it better?). Now if I can just get the glass to not distort soooo much. At any rate, whomever made the car model itself did a wonderful job. I hope to be able to model like that one day.
BTW, the scene is lit with 1 spot light (for shadows), and the rest is HDRI.

The car looks really good (maybe a bit too shiney)
The windows could use alittle work on the glass shader.
Only one crit of the model itself (knowing full well that you didn't make it)... Where are the windshield wipers. I see so many car models without wipers on them. :D

Wipers...hmmmm...good point. I didnt even notice that. I will make some and a cowl to go on the car. Yes, I am still working on the glass. I cant seem to figure out how to make glass that does not distort. I'm also going to texture the interior.
Thanks for the comment.

Sure, here are some links that I found helpful. Theres also one that seems to be dead (called Vienna at night), that has some wonderful free light probes.

On the last one there, look at the bottom of the page for a bunch of hdri tutorials on different software (lightwave, Max + brazil, etc)
Hope that helps.
