View Full Version : mac pro w/ Nvidia 8800GT for Maya? anyone

The next purchase will possibly be a mac pro and the current video card for that is the 8800GT..I believe.
I understand for the PC, it is recommended maya users stay away from Geforce cards, but I'm wondering if there are any Mac owners who have had excellent results with it. It will be used for character modeling.

please correct me if I'm wrong but geforces are great for maya, sure the only way to get autodesk support is with quadros, but geforces work great and the 8800 is faster than say a quadro 4500 and 5 times cheaper.

would love to get a quadro but couldn't afford it so i got the 8800gt for my new system. i had a gforce card in my last system and i didnt have any major problems at all.
