Hi guys.
Im wondering how to simulate caustics in MAX. Is it necessary a renderer as Brazil or Vray?

The problem is that I want to simulate the caustic effect in the shadow projected by a transparent object like a cup of glass. But standard max renderer, renders the image as it is a solid object...

Any ideas? do you know something about this?

Ill appreciate your help.

 and drink a beer of course!

You can do reflective caustics in Max 5's lighttracer.. took some strange setup which I could've sworn this guy discussed :
http://www.xenomorphic.co.uk/education.htm

But can't seem to spot it there now - probably somebody else.

For refractive caustics, though, you would have to get a 3rd party renderer.

See the link in my sig for a bunch of max ones.
