Is it atall possible for me to dualboot with the same operating system?
the reason i ask is because i want one boot soley for graphics (max, photoshop, vray and after effects and thats basically it) but i want another boot where i can have all my media apps, games, office ect ect.
this way i'm hoping the graphics boot's registry will stay completely un-cluttered but i can still play games on the other one.

Any advice would be great.

Please do not suggest i try vista, installed it last night and i want to gouge my eyes out with blunt sticks!! its overly bloated with rubbish max barely starts at all let alone working with huge files....

Umless you have any programs that don't for some reason like XP64, you should be fine simply running that.

At this point, I'd say 98% of 32 bit apps work great in XP64. And many Pro apps ship with both the 32bit and 64bit version on the installation disc.

Just make sure that any 3rd-party plugins you use are 64bit capible if you want to use the 64bit versions of your software appls.

Yeap, most of the stuff works just fine in XP64. Games included in that. I both play games and create 3d all in XP64 now and i'm about to ditch my XP32 installation.

To spare your registry from problems you can get a good uninstaller like Your Uninstaller 2008 and a good registry optimizer like TweakNow RegCleaner Pro. Both these programs does a good job keeping your system clean so you don't have to reinstall it as often as you normally would have to do.
