View Full Version : Vehicle : Audi a6
joconnell 05-15-2003, 03:24 PM Just a few shots of an audio model that I did a while back but never made anything of. I stuck it in wip rather than finished stuff since there are a few problems with the mesh (reflections on the front door where it meets the front wing) which are down to me modelling each panel of the car seperately. This makes a lighter mesh but causes problems when you subdivide and render. I'll know better for next time.

Looks good.
The renders are a little dark though and the sidewalls on those tires are a little fat, as in like a 100 as opposed to a 50 or 55 series tire.

Nice, sharp model...:)
I think the fold on the sides are too sharp though...

Heya Wu, It's 3dsmax polymodelled and rendered in arnold. I'll do a bit of lightening up on the renders and yeah I agree the crease on the doors looks a tad sharp - it's probably to do with the way the reflection is falling over the surface.
Cheers for the comments.

I'm a beta tester of arnold. The front shot looks a bit "hype williams" r & b video doesn't it ;)

Is is that powerful, as it looks? If you compare it to final Render , if you can compare it, how much is it different ?
Wish you good luck in future project. And put here as many renders, as you can. I`m fan of Arnold, since I saw Mitsubish Lancer WRC EVO VI (maybe IV...) I`ll put here image link on monday, .... from that moment I love it.
Nowadays I think, that it`s power is nearly the same as final RENDER or Mantal Ray. One is best in one way, another in the other , if you get it

It works quite differently to final render and for GI I reckon it's probably the best out there. But that said, it's not finished so can't be compared to brazil or final render really. I never liked FR myself, I reckon brazil is probably my favourite commercial renderer out at the moment - I was really unimpressed with mental ray for max (4 times slower than soft and missing most features) so I must try it in softimage xsi instead...

Yeah, MR is the slowest one, but I tried Brazil , not sure wich version,.. And I wasn`t happy with it.
IMHO it works slow, much slower than fR. I haven`t found, where to put HDRi to Illuminate scene. If you have some link on rendering with brazil, it will help me alot.
MAX 5 light tracer and radiosity looks ok as well, but it is as well very slow. I Like finalRender best. I will try to work more in Brazil so maybe I will change my mind.
Looking forward to see Arnold,... it can be answer to qustion , if it is better fR or Brazil. - don`t think about it, use Arnold.
Is there a way how to get to Arnold Tesing Team ???

Unfortunately theres no way to get on to the testing team. The problem with brazil is that the test version isn't very good at this stage. The full version is great though - Quite friendly to use and quick to set up.
